What do you remember about your favourite housemates of Big Brother Naija 10/10? Were you looking out for the ones who were catching feelings and doing their love thangz, or were you rooting for the underdogs who mostly dodged the weekly evictions?
Here’s a reminder – check out our list of eight types of roles that housemates commonly adopt in Biggie’s house:
1. The Low-Key Lovelies
They might be in the house to promote their career as an artist, they might be there on a spiritual (or emotional) journey, or they’re there just for vibes. You might hear saying “I’m not here for the money” or that they are open to find love.
2. The Food Dictator
A good cook is one thing, but things can get heated in the kitchen when someone dominates and controls the food pantry. In season 6, we saw how some of the housemates were threatened by Whitemoney, who became the unofficial chef.
Housemates can get frustrated by the tight weekly shopping budget and that one housemate who has a big appetite can make things worse. It can lead to strategies like food supplies being stashed, portions rationed, or housemates policing what others are eating. In season 10, we saw Kaybobo and Big Soso become the unofficial food prefects and they ruffled one or two feathers.
3. The Relationship Anchor
They are often seen as the rock and can take on the big brother or big sister role. They make sure special connections are made and sustain them. We saw Imisi build brother-and-sister relationships with Kaybobo and Kola. Let’s also not forget the bromance between Rooboy and Kuture.
4. The Silent Strategist
This can be one of two people: the one who talks about how they are plotting their moves and serve strategy in an unexpected way (remember Faith in season 10?) Or it is the housemate who rises to the top against the odds. It’s the mastermind who dodges the evictions. Of course, Imisi and Dede have done this successfully in season 10.
5. The Joker
This can also go either way. There is a comedian who has his friends cracking up laughing throughout his time in the house, or it’s the prankster who enjoys playing practical jokes on the housemates. Some of the class clowns are Boma in season 6, and Kuture and Rooboy in season 10. Zita kept the pranks coming in season 10.
6. The Loverboy
The Loverboy (like Jason Jae from season 10 and Sheggz in season 7) also makes his entrance in every house. He is single and not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve, but it might take time for him to label his ship with someone in the house.
The married man or the one who’s already in a complicated relationship, may be added in the show just for the plot. Bright Morgan in season 10 had a relationship outside of the house and things got a little messy when he was drawn to Mide, one of the housemates.
7. The Girl's Girl
There’s mainly been female alliances in Biggie’s house, where we would see cliques forming around alpha females. They would root for each other, protect each other’s interest, and make unified decisions. The besties we’ve seen over the years are Mercy and Diane from the Pepper Dem season, Phyna and Amaka from the Level Up season, Doyin and Ilebaye from the All Stars season, and Kassia and Victoria from the No Loose Guard season.
8. The Life of the Party
They are the ones you know will give you a good time, especially when there is a party. They tear up the dance floor during the Thursday Night Pool Party and the Saturday Night Party. In season 10, it was Jason Jae and Joanna.
From the resident cook to the class clown, every housemate brings a distinct personality that shapes the game in unexpected ways. As season 11 approaches, the big question is: which new personalities will capture viewers’ attention, disrupt the house and become memorable?
