Themed β€˜Showstopper Week’, the fifth live show of Nigerian Idol came alive with extraordinary performances from the top 5 contestants with Dr Kaffy, the dance master, at the helm of things this week, the night was explosive with vibrant performances.

Although we were sad to see Savy Henry exit the competition, we were soon captivated by the opening act and what a performance it was. Ose Daniel started the night with an energetic rendition of Adekunle Gold’s hit song, High. His energy was unmatched as he blew the Judge's and audience's minds with some smooth dance moves and controlled vocals. The Judges commended Ose Daniel for having a stable vocal delivery while singing and dancing. This led to D’banj calling his performance a β€˜diamond performance’.Β

Next up, Goodness took centre stage with a beautiful rendition of Rihanna’s We Found Love by Rihanna. Her ability to maintain her breath control while dancing utterly captivated the judges with her stunning rendition of the song. Simi, however, noted that it seemed like she was trying to catch up with the song.

We were definitely in for an enchanting night when the third contestant, Victory, treated everyone to a banging version of Bruno Mars’ Locked Out of Heaven. D’banj mentioned that he had spoken with Simi just before the performance in anticipation of what would happen but his expectations were surpassed by Victory’s performance.Β

Precious Mac then came through with her unique version of Rockabye by Clean Bandit ft Annie Marie and Sean Paul. Her vocal cords gave us the chills and had everyone applauding. Obi and Simi were especially impressed at Precious Mac’s ability to keep the audience’s attention on her despite all the other activities happening on stage.Β

With four performances down, Quest ended the night with an explosive performance of Beyonce’s hit song, Freedom. She not only sang and danced but also rapped Kendrick Lamar’s part. She brought Queen Bey’s energy and had everyone, including the judges, bowing.
