What a week it’s been. Week 5, themed Face Your Fears, brought Biggie’s housemates in close contact with some of their phobias, from wriggling worms to emotional scars.
Kicking off with Jason Jae defeating Doris at the HoH challenge, the tasks they had to scale were nothing short of gooey, slimy, and all spooky. This win was short-lived, as Rooboy stole the title at the HoH challenger task the next day.
Biggie wasted no time getting the party started by recreating a scene straight out of a horror movie. In a shocking prank, ninjas placed a live worm on Bright Morgan's shoulder, sending the housemates into a hilarious panic. Kuture let out a high-pitched scream, while Mide burst into tears. It was a chaotic and hilarious moment that reminded everyone that even the toughest housemates have their limits. The prank was just a preview of the emotional and physical gauntlet they were about to run.
The Diary Room became a confessional booth for their phobias. Tracy revealed her fear of birds and being alone, while Kuture admitted to being scared of heights and water. Kola shared his quirky fear of ducks, dogs, and cats. The confessions became even more personal when Imisi revealed her fear of sleeping in a dark room with people, a fear that was made worse by the ninja prank. Meanwhile, Bright Morgan claimed he had no fears, to which Biggie playfully asked if he feared waking up bald.
Beyond the physical fears, the housemates also faced their emotional anxieties. The fear of losing the wager brought out the worst in some. Thelma Lawson and Faith got into a heated argument over the wager, with Thelma Lawson expressing her anxiety about saving her food. This fear of a poor performance on the wager also drove Jason Jae to confess his fear of "disappointing his people" to Biggie.
The nominations also brought a wave of emotional turmoil. After the nominations were nullified, the housemates started to figure out who was nominated. Tracy was shocked to find out she had been nominated and believed it was because she was perceived as "weak." Isabella, however, said she wasn't surprised not to be nominated and was ready to face her fellow housemates every week. It seems the fear of being seen as weak is a much bigger game than the cash prize.
The most emotional conversations were about navigating relationships. Dede was seen sitting alone on a swing for hours, confessing to Jason Jae that she uses the time to strategise and be alone. She said she's "in her feelings," but she uses the time to face them. Imisi also faced her fears by confronting Faith for disrespecting her and "body shaming" her, showing that she wasn't afraid to stand up for herself.
From hilarious screams to vulnerable confessions, the housemates proved that they're more than just players in a game. They're real people with real fears, and in a house where you only have each other, they are learning to face their fears, one day at a time. We'll be here next week to see what other demons they'll have to face.
