The West African movie industry has grown in exponential strides and proves that practice makes perfect. From gaining momentum through 'magic-like' movies set in the backdrop of black magic-ridden villages to mastering consistency through first-class films that boast majestic storylines, the following titles are just a few of dozens we're anticipating in the 2019 movie fiscal.

5. Nigerian Trade

From the stable of AMVCA best Director, Jade Asiberu, Nigerian trade definitely sparks curiosity at first site. Based on a true story, the behind the scenes snippets show an interesting line of acts including Blossom Chukwujekwu, Rita Dominick, as well as songstress, Waje. With tremendous success recorded by her previous works Gidi up and Isoken, we’re definitely counting down to the Nigerian Trade premiere.

4. Bling Lagosians

Promising a star-studded spectacle, it’s the upcoming Bling Lagosians that graces the 4th spot. A sophomore production following Bolanle Austen-Peters’ award-winning 2016 doci-drama 93 Days, this new serving stars a colourful cast including Toyin Abraham, Osas Ajobade, Gbenga Titiyole, Bisola Aiyeola and our very own Helen Paul. A tale centred around the lives and adventures of the Lagos’ extremely wealthy upper class, Bling Lagosian promises to be a bedazzling serving.

3. Make Room

Having us tightly gripped to our seats and basking in myriad anticipation is the explosive ‘Make Room’, an offering that seeks to trigger multidimensional awareness and induce empathetic participation. Inspired by real events, the film is set in the backdrop of war-torn Northern Nigeria and portrays the devastation of terrorism. Featuring a list of vibrant talent, Rekiya Atah and Uze Uzeman amongst others, Make Room drips eye catching visual effects making it one of the biggest 2019 cinema offerings.
