Dearest Biggie Reader: A week of tears and drama – BBNaija

Housemates partying

Dearest Biggie Reader,

If there’s one thing the 10/10 house has made clear, it’s that emotional regulation is a myth, strategy is a slippery slope, and love? Well, it’s falling faster than a housemate’s chance after a failed wager.

From the very moment the ladies sashayed into the house, it was clear that Season 10 would not be business as usual. They arrived first and tried to set a tone, a sisterhood pact to ignore the boys. Bold, clever… short-lived. By Day 2, some were already locking eyes and catching feelings with Biggie’s finely selected Naija gents.

By Sunday night, the house was bursting at the seams with 29 housemates under one roof, and the battle for dominance began. Jason Jae emerged victorious as the first HoH and, after holding onto power during the week’s twisty HoH challenger, he finally began enjoying his reign like a man who fought tooth and nail for it.

The energy has not dipped since then, though the housemates certainly did… during the first wager. A failed ball-turned-concert was not quite what Biggie asked for, and while the housemates sang, danced, and dribbled around the brief, Biggie’s disappointment was the true showstopper. A fumbled bag, and quite possibly, a fumbled season start.

The build-up to the presentation was riddled with chaos. From Otega’s struggle to lead the creative process to brewing tensions around role assignments, it was clear that unity was not on the menu. Sabrina and Ibifubara were particularly vocal about the gender imbalance in leadership roles, while others barely knew what role they were playing. A mess? Predictable. A loss? Deserved.

Yet, dear reader, if you thought the failed wager would humble the housemates, think again.

This week has felt like six weeks. Fights have erupted with a frequency and intensity worthy of their own spin-off show. In just a few days, we’ve seen clashes between Ivatar and Sultana, Kaybobo and Mensan, Imisi and half the kitchen crew, Victory and Otega, Dede and Victory, and most recently, the Big Soso and Tracy showdown. One name allegedly ran a marathon in someone else’s mouth, and next thing? Boom. A brawl.

But what is Big Brother Naija without love and loss?

By Day 3, Gigi Jasmine and Isabella had locked down their favourites, Victory and Kayikunmi, respectively. Unfortunately, love in the house burns bright and fast… and sometimes crashes just as hard. Cue the tears. And oh, there have been many. Koyin, bless his heart, set the crying bar high with his emotional breakdown after Mensan’s story, and since then, it’s been open season for sobs in every corner of the house.

Imisi, not one to be left behind in love or in loss, decided to confess her feelings for Faith to Dede, then promptly leaned in for a kiss… which Faith rejected with graceful precision. He now continues to support her like her biggest fan, and we’re all watching to see whether it’s loyalty or heartbreak in slow motion.

The love triangles (and squares and circles) continue to grow. Kayikunmi seems to be smitten with Mide, who is giving him little to no airtime. Kola, on the other hand, is singing Dede’s praises, much to Doris’ dismay. The tension is as thick as the egusi in their kitchen.

Speaking of kitchens, food, or the politics thereof, deserves its own segment. Jason Jae handed kitchen duties to Big Soso and Otega, and let’s just say, peace was not part of the recipe. Otega’s Thursday night meat grilling scandal, where he refused to share the goods because everyone was dancing while he sweated by the fire, might just go down in history as the first #MeatGate of the season. And with a failed wager and limited food on the way, one has to wonder… how bad will the hunger wars get?

But not everything has been fire and fury. The first Thursday Night Pool Party and Saturday Night Turn Up delivered all the glitz, groove, and unexpected connections fans hoped for. The housemates turned up with vibes, moves, and enough drama in the aftermath to keep us tuned in well into the night. If the parties are anything to go by, this season may just be the iconic chaos we’ve all been waiting for.

And so, Dearest Biggie Reader, we end this week with more questions than answers: Who’s playing the long game, and who’s already losing the plot?
Will love conquer all or crumble by midweek?
And will the next wager be a win, or another warning from Biggie?

Until then, I remain your ever-curious, ever-watchful,
