This week’s HoH twist delivered the shortest reigns in Big Brother Naija history. With the HoH Challenger in play, housemates have had to defend their titles in order to keep their crowns. Unfortunately for interim HoH Sultana, her time on the throne was cut short as Faith emerged victorious and claimed the coveted position for the week.
Sultana went head-to-head with Koyin, Imisi, Dede, Ivatar, Doris and Faith, but it was Faith’s speed that secured him the win. Wasting no time, he kicked off his reign with a bold set of ground rules. One of his first declarations? He would not be calling housemates for battery changes. Instead, he advised: "If you want to be heard, change your batteries by me, and if you don’t, do what you want.”
It's a fiery start to what promises to be an eventful HoH reign.
Here’s how last night’s games unfolded.
The opening round of Buzz Kill saw Sultana, Mensan, Tracy and Big Soso outlast their fellow housemates, booking their spots in the next stage. The contest then narrowed to a tense Disc Stacker face-off between Sultana and Mensan. With steady focus and nerves of steel, Sultana triumphed, claiming the title of Interim Head of House. In her first official act, she chose Big Soso as her guest, a decision that earned her a round of cheers from the house.
But while Sultana celebrated her victory, Joanna was handed the less enviable title of Snail of the Week. Dressed in her snail costume which she must wear until the week’s end, Joanna accepted her role with good humour, though the house could hardly contain their laughter at the sight.
The night’s twists didn’t stop there. Biggie unveiled the season’s latest theme: Bare Minimum. In his words, the housemates would be “minimised” in both privileges and access, and it began the moment they re-entered the house. Gone were the comfort and convenience they were used to: couches cancelled and replaced with hard stools, beds stripped away in favour of thin grass mats, the blender swapped out for a mortar and pestle, and even the washing machine hauled away. To add insult to injury, the pool was drained. The sight of these changes sent the house into a frenzy, with housemates shouting “heeeey!” in disbelief.
The reactions were priceless. Doris fainted dramatically upon realising the washing machine had vanished. Bright Morgan and Mide scouted for a suitable spot to place their mats, while Doris and Denari tried to sneakily reposition a restricted table to create what they cheekily dubbed their “honeymoon mat.” In the kitchen, Kola and Imisi decided to "make hay while the sun shines" by making pounded yam with the mortar and pestle.
Not all moments were lighthearted, though. Doris and Faith clashed over ownership of a pot, with Doris insisting its contents were hers alone, while Faith argued it was a communal item. The playful tension reached its peak when Doris shoved her hand over Faith’s face, only for him to respond with a calm smile. Meanwhile, Tracy and Rooboy found themselves in a heated exchange over a misplaced mat, with Tracy accusing him of pulling hers aside and dramatically pointing to where his slippers lay as evidence.
Away from the noise, Sultana had a quieter, more vulnerable moment with Jason Jae. She revealed that she had been married off at a young age but, thanks to her stubbornness, was able to break free from the marriage. Now a proud mother of two little girls, she reflected on the pressures single mothers often face in relationships, warning against becoming pushovers simply out of gratitude for companionship. Her words carried weight, reminding viewers that beneath the games and banter, the housemates bring real stories and struggles into the spotlight.
From Sultana’s triumph to Joanna’s snail costume, from the laughter of pounding yam to fiery mat and kitchen disputes, Bare Minimum week has already turned the house upside down. If tonight is any indication, the days ahead promise more tension, more revelations, and more unforgettable BBNaija drama.
