South African actress Thembi Nyandeni is well known for her portrayal of the tough talking, glue of the family Mkabayi Zungu on Isibaya.

Her portrayal of the role in the soapy has won her an inaugural outstanding lead actress award at the Royalty Soapy awards in 2014.

The 58-year-old divorcee and mother of one has been in the entertainment industry for well over 40 years.

She was also the co-creator and costume designer for Africa Umoja, a show about South African culture that has been performed in well over 50 countries.
