It’s officially the first day of Big Brother Naija with both male and female housemates in the game, and it’s already turning into a whirlwind. The dynamic has completely shifted now that the house is full, and the once-clear strategies are already falling apart. When it was just the ladies, they had agreed to ignore the guys when they entered. But that plan didn’t last long.
Since then, we’ve seen housemates bonding in groups and pairs. Koyin and Mide spent some quality time together while eating breakfast (late comers), while Faith and Joanna had a long chat on the swing in the garden.
The first official wager meeting also took place today, led by interim HoH, Jason Jae. It took him a while to read the brief before he was called to the Diary Room. After his initial attempt to read, Imisi asked for clarification, prompting Gigi Jasmine to re-read it. When things still weren’t clear, Sabrina stepped in and gave it another go.
Despite Jason Jae's title, Otega temporarily took over the meeting with his flood of ideas. He began assigning roles and tasks, but not everyone was on board with his grand vision. Ibifubara attempted to steer the group back to the brief, but Otega’s buzzing energy made it hard to get a word in. Eventually, Doris and Koyin spoke up and shared their thoughts, even though it felt like Otega was dominating the space.
The meeting was abruptly interrupted when Biggie announced that the storeroom was open for baggage collection. Gigi Jasmine took this as a chance to express her frustration over the state of the house, from raw eggs on the kitchen floor to blood in the bin and general dirt upstairs.
Things escalated when Sultana shouted at Ivatar for walking on the wet floor while Gigi Jasmine was cleaning. Ivatar didn’t take kindly to her tone, and a brief screaming match followed, complete with a few exchanged insults.
Faith and Otega both stepped in to mediate, though their takes were different. Otega felt both women were in the wrong, while Faith acknowledged that Sultana did raise her voice, possibly due to other frustrations. Ivatar, for her part, said she wasn’t truly upset and understood where the others were coming from, though Sultana seemed more affected by the clash.
Later in the kitchen, emotions ran high once again as Koyin broke down in tears after Mensan shared a deeply personal story. The brotherhood rallied around Koyin, offering comfort and support.
Jason Jae’s HoH reign has come to an end after Biggie introduced the first twist of the season, the HoH challenger. Bright Morgan, Dede, Kuture, Sultana and Rooboy had the opportunity to break a sweat and battle it out to take the HoH title from Jason Jae, but he managed to retain it successfully.
What will unfold next in this already chaotic house? Only time will tell.
