Cassy Nyemba was born in Zambia in 1980 and her earliest interactions with music started from when she was very little. She always found a way to add music and singing to her play time with her friends which always amazed not only her peers, but also every adult that was around to witness it. She would joke about it now that sometimes, she would annoy her mom with her non-stop singing around the house.
Tragedy came calling when she lost her mom at age 15. With no support from family, she made the decision to relocate to Lusaka in a bid to pursue her dreams of becoming an established artiste. From singing at small functions and events, Cassy has been able to push herself and attain her dreams.
She has shared stages with some international acts like Kcee (Sweden/Nigeria), PatoranKing (Nigeria); but these accolades haven’t stopped her. In 2017, her song “Ghetto Champagne” trended so much on iTunes that it earned her the undisputed title of the first Zambian act to top sales charts on the platform.
Being based out in Europe hasn’t taken anything away from the fire in her belly as she constantly aims to devote her time and resources to helping out the less privileged and homeless around her community in Zambia, and then Africa at large.
The DancehallQueen will be talking about her accomplishments as well as her community empowerment projects as she sits down with Kchinga on the next episode of #ZMZedTop10, so this one is billed as a 'must-see'.
