The name Jackson Banda may not ring a lot of bells in the minds of Zambians but the minute you mention the moniker ‘Jay Rox’ or Roxa; you can immediately see their eyes light up as they start mentally calling up all the hits he’s put out. Jay rox is a singer song writer, producer, rapper, dancehall act, and a social conscious speaker.
A pioneer member of the group Zone Fam, they dropped ‘Shaka Zulu on ‘em’ in 2009 which propelled them to nationwide acclaim as the song tore up music charts all over. Roxa as he is fondly called by his teeming fans then channeled his energies into several solo projects and the quality of the music he churns out will turn any nay-sayer into a fan.
Roxa recently put out some music videos off his brand new EP and these videos are getting mad airplay across Zambia and also racking up the hits on youtube, but above all of that, he sticks to his guns by constantly challenging his fellow artistes to step up their game in a campaign themed ‘The evolution of Zambian Music’.
