"One day I decided that I was beautiful and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl. It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see.” ~ Gabourey Sidibe
This past week on #ZMTuvwange the ladies talked about being comfortable in your own skin and how young people are owning their looks and their bodies in 2021. This is such an important topic to tackle because we are confronted with body politics daily, whether we know it or not.
In this enlightening episode, the ladies touched on how the opinions of others are not something that the youth should concentrate on. Mutale spoked about how she always hypes herself up, whether she is in something short or long – and honestly, we are here for this energy!!
We live in the era of the influencer and whether you’re aware of it or not, you are being influenced. Seeing more and more young people throw caution to the wind and become body positive is the content we love. If you’re on social media, you have definitely seen important hashtags such as #selfcare dedicated to people loving themselves and taking care of their bodies.
The ladies were joined by Ivanka Bianca, a social media influencer, business woman and musician who also added her thoughts to the topic at hand. They asked her how one can say there are comfortable in their own skin and still want to bleach or lighten their skin. The conversation yielded some pretty interesting thoughts that gave a different perspective.
There will be bad days and there will be good days. Being comfortable in your own skin won’t mean that you’re happy in your own skin at all times, but you only have this one body, so take care of it and love it every chance you get.
This week the ladies will be discussing civil and customary marriages.
Tune in to #ZMTuvwange every Thursday at 21:30hrs on #ZambeziMagic DStv CH 162.
