The show will explore interracial love and the pitfalls of vanity.
Seetha Season 1

When a beautiful young woman, used to being the object of men’s affections, has her advances rejected by an eligible bachelor, she goes to great lengths to secure his attention. This not only causes chaos in their lives, but also scandalises their families and the entire community.

This is the premise of Seetha, an exciting and groundbreaking new comedy premiering on Zambezi Magic on Friday 7 October at 21h30.

Starring Swati Patil, Yombwe Cosmos Mbuyisa, Sheetal Virdy, Emmie Nkonjera and Evans Bwalya, it is produced and directed by Bob Nkosha (the mastermind behind 2018 comedy Dorika). It takes on the slot that formerly housed the much-loved Zambezi Magic comedy, Uncle Limbani, making 21h30 the channel’s comedy time.

An adaptation of the Maisha Magic comedy Varshita, Seetha is about an egocentric young girl – the titular character – who thinks she is a goddess reincarnated and therefore believes she can capture anyone’s love with her beauty and charm. But when she fails to win over a young man named Bishop, she sets a plan in motion that will make him fall in love with her. But will it work?

“We’re excited to have a new show in what’s now our comedy slot. We are looking forward to seeing the viewer response, as this show really breaks boundaries racially, culturally, and societally,” says Zambezi Magic Channel Head, Mosibudi Pheeha.

“This is not our first time working with top Producer Bob Nkosha, and we’re glad to have another epic show that will promote family viewing and where viewers can enjoy a rib-cracking comedy. As a channel, we also have an ongoing commitment to local productions, and to supporting SADC on a socioeconomic scale, providing employment and enriching lives through the growth of our creative industries,” she concludes.

Bold, audacious, and hilarious, Seetha is bound to get viewers talking. Don’t miss its premiere on 7 October on Zambezi Magic (DStv Channel 162 and GOtv Supa Channel 5).
