Zambezi Magic has once again proven itself as a leading local television channel within the Zambian market. For 5 years, the channel has delighted viewers with the best content that has kept them glued to their screens 24/7/365. Just as we thought the channel could not surpass itself, we learned that Zambezi Magic is set to launch yet another riveting drama series entitled Mungoma.
“Our mandate as a channel is to continue to find fresh content that resonates with the audience” said Mosibudi Pheeha, Channel Head for Zambezi Magic. Pheeha further stated the success of drama series on the channel, such as - Ubuntu as well as Amooye is indicative to the fact there is a huge appetite for the genre on the channel and that she aims to give the viewers exactly what they want. In a statement released this week, Pheeha announced that the spellbinding and dramatic serving of Ubuntu is set to premiere on the 5th of October at 21.30pm every Monday to Wednesday. She did however remain tight lipped about a season 2 premiere of Amooye to our screens.
Mungoma is set to premiere on the channel’s new drama slot on the 19th of October at 19.30pm and recounts the story of the music industry in Zambia through various characters and storylines said Molefi Lebone, Commissioning Editor for Zambezi Magic. Lebone further mentioned that viewers can expect to witness a whirlwind of themes centered around greed, love, secrets as well as betrayal that most viewers can relate to.
The channel expressed its excitement with working alongside major players within the content curation space, namely, Jackson Ng’ambi Banda who also produced Tuvwange Season 1 and Season 2 including My Father and I. Pheeha further revealed that the show has a good mix of well-known stars such as Leo Simukoko, M’fawell Tau Mwambo and Victor Phiri amongst others.
Set your reminders commencing this October every Monday to Wednesday to witness the drama as secrets are revealed and manipulation ensues in an attempt to get to the top.
The Zulu family – Andrea, his wife Naomi, and daughter Ruzivo run Mungoma Records, a successful record label founded by Naomi’s late father. To expand the label, Andrea encourages the marriage and business partnership between Ruzivo and Alex, the executive of a new record label. With this partnership in place, it appears Mungoma Records is set for success. Things however start to unravel as Zulu’s methods of intimidation, blackmail and witchcraft to stay at the top of the industry start to emerge.
