Love can be complicated in Mpali. Feelings overlap, relationships collide, and sometimes the heart refuses to follow logic. But if there’s one thing that truly defines some of the men in the world of Mpali, it’s loyalty. Not the kind spoken in big romantic speeches but the kind proven through actions, choices, and sometimes even questionable decisions.
In this second chapter of “Mpali’s Men’s Guide to Love”, we look at three men whose loyalty shows up in very different ways.
Albert: The man who never left
If loyalty had a face in Mpali, Albert might be it.
His love for Mwiza has remained steady even when she chose another life with Nguzu. Albert has tried to move on more than once, but somehow his heart always finds its way back to her and he doesn’t hide it either. Nguzu knows very well that Albert is not intimidated by him. Whenever Mwiza feels neglected or overwhelmed at the farm, Albert is there to remind her that his love hasn’t faded.
However, his loyalty doesn’t stop with Mwiza. Albert is also the biological father of Mwanida, and despite Nguzu claiming her as his own daughter, Albert has remained present in her life. From employing her to helping search for her kidnapped baby, Albert has consistently shown up when it mattered most.
Buying Nguzu’s farm and giving it to Mwiza added another layer to the drama, proving that in Mpali, loyalty sometimes comes with bold moves.
Alexander: Loyalty with no limits
Alexander’s loyalty is… complicated.
Despite being separated from Sepiso, the mother of his daughter Malaika and sometime showing great dislike for her, Alexander has never truly been able to cut her off. When Sepiso’s actions caused chaos; pushing Monde down the stairs, starting a fire at the school he started with Mwiza, as well as poisoning a drink during his wedding to Lindiwe, Alexander still showed her compassion.
While many would have walked away, Alexander continued to extend grace to her as the mother of his child. He even granted her a powerful position at the school he founded with Mwiza.
For Alexander, loyalty isn’t always about what someone deserves. It’s about the bond he feels can never fully be broken.
Frank: Loyalty beyond romance
Frank reminds us that loyalty isn’t always about love. It’s also about friendship and family.
He stood firmly beside his friend and former brother-in-law Hambe during his legal troubles, even agreeing to Twaambo’s risky plan to sell shares in the Nut and Jam factory to help raise money for Hambe’s release.
Frank has also been Nguzu’s trusted right-hand man, always ready to step in when problems arise. Even after his relationship with Mwanida ended, Frank helped her search for her kidnapped baby and played a role in bringing Richard to justice.
Through it all, Frank has shown that loyalty can stretch beyond romance and still mean everything.
In Mpali, loyalty isn’t always neat or perfect. Sometimes it causes conflict and raises questions. But one thing is certain: true loyalty reveals itself when life becomes messy. And Mpali’s men? They are definitely giving us plenty to talk about!
