Two words, Katlego Lebogang 👏👌 . She portrays the character of Mabalwa Rhadebe every Friday on 1Magic’s first medical drama, Wounds and we’re a little obsessed (read a lot!)

Katlego Lebogang is a BA (Hons) graduate in Theatre & Performance from the University of Cape Town who bagged the recurring role of Mbali in the Netflix dance drama series Jiva! which was released in June 2020. Before securing a role on #Wounds, she had been in a number of commercials and also cast in the Showmax horror telefilm, Pinky Pinky.

Now, last Friday’s episode of Wounds needed a box or 4 of tissues because it came with one of the most anticipated moments since we found out that Agnes is Mabalwa’s biological mother. 😭

Not ready to reveal it all

Mabalwa came in as a very enthusiastic learner who was excited to be getting into the medical world as an intern and getting to work alongside Agnes but her excitement about being around her soon started to prove that it was more just admiration but in fact the disbelief that she’s now around her own mother all the time.

She, however was not ready to tell the truth.

The moment that had us all in tears

She had us at “I’m your daughter” and the waterworks were out to play. After holding it in, sneaking around her office and trying by all means to find all that she could about her, Mabalwa finally decided to let it all out and reveal her identity to her long lost mother.

Katlego did this moment justice. The emotions were so real that we at some point forgot that it’s only part of a drama and that’s a proper representation of how amazing she is especially working alongside the talented Ayanda Borotho.

One thing about us, we are very excited to see what else this young and oh so talented actress has in store for us because it’s definitely about to get even more interesting. Get into it, you don't want to get left behind!
