In Season 3 of the Real Housewives of Potomac, Karen Huger and her husband Ray Huger aka “The Black Bill Gates”, have come under the spotlight for Ray’s alleged tax evasion. But in an interview with PEOPLE Now, the housewife came out and defended her husband, insisting that the rumours were not true.
Karen reiterated that the couple did not owe anybody anything. “Do your case search. Miss Karen owns nobody. Please so a public record search on me. Karen is debt-free and loaded,” she fired back.
According to records released by The Washington Post, Ray was cited as owing close to $1.5 million in government tax. His software company is apparently also owing more than $3 million.
Since the start of season 3, the couple’s alleged tax evasion has fueled much talk among the housewives, with many of them questioning if that’s the reason that Karen and Ray sold their Potomac mansion for $1.685 million, rather than the &2.5 million it was up for.
Now, in another interview with PEOPLE Now, Karen confirmed that the reports were actually “true to an extent”.
Karen who didn’t delve into the details said, “The good news is we’re great. Ray came out on a good side. I can’t tell you everything, but I’m proud of him. He’s a great businessman.”
Addressing the impact that the tax revelations had on their financial well-being, Karen admitted that the couple had to make some financial adjustments. “The budget came into play,” she said.
“Of course, if you’re a good wife, you’ll put yourself on a good budget,” she laughed.
