By now, viewers of the most popular Housewives franchise have come to understand that friendships on this show aren’t necessarily tied by oaths. A friendship today devolves into a nasty war in the next episode – and that’s just that on that. Mind you, we aren’t just talking about those shallow staged for TV type link ups. We are taking old friends here.
The latest of such enduring friendships to bite the dust is one between Nene Leakes and Cynthia Bailey, who’ve been close friends for most of the show’s 11 years on air.
Granted, their friendships hasn’t been without it’s bumps – some rougher than others – but the ladies have always seemed to find their way back to each other.
And it makes sense; they share a lot of personal history and their families grew quite close over the years. We’ve seen them share triumphs and building beautiful sisterhood memories on the show, and we’ve seen them hold each other down in the trenches.
Even around the time when Cynthia started spending more time with Kenya Moore, driving Nene Leakes up the wall (it doesn’t seem to be that difficult to send her flying), they somehow to bury their hatch and hatch new beginnings.
Or so we thought.
It appears that season 11 is all about the testing of limits. Nene Leakes is going through a difficult time. Her husband, Greg, is currently battling cancer. The authenticity of Cynthia’s sisterhood is being questioned quite a lot, especially as she continues fraternizing with people Nene doesn’t vibe with (it’s a long list).
Will this friendship live to see another season, or will Cynthia Bailey finally, erm, bail on Nene? Watch it all unfold on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Mondays to Thursdays at 18:00 on 1Magic, DStv channel 103.
