This week marks the return of FX’s epic drama Snowfall; a series that explores the darker side of the 1980s in Los Angeles, a time in which crack cocaine first penetrated the city of angels.
According to FX, Snowfall Season 3 will be set in the summer of 1984 as crack cocaine infiltrated the streets of South Central Los Angeles like wildfire. As a consequence, police in LA become more alert to the growing epidemic. Sergeant Andre Wright, played by Marcus Henderson, will start keeping a very close eye on his next-door neighbor, Franklin Saint.
Meanwhile, Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson) and the CIA are increasing their efforts to ensure that cocaine keeps making its way into the city.

Of course, the untimely passing of the show’s co-creator John Singleton cannot be ignored. Speaking to Deadline, Snowfall’s Executive Producer Trevor Engelson said that Singleton’s loss would be hard-felt.
Touching on the show’s speedy turnaround strategy, Engelson said that the show had to go especially because that’s what Singleton would have wanted. “It felt like the actors were hearing what John would’ve said, ‘Use that real-life emotion in your performance.’”
Season 3 of Snowfall starts tonight at 21:30 on 1Magic, DStv Channel 103.
