It’s no wonder that the series’ creators announced that Queen Sugar would be back for more drama in 2020. If that isn’t enough, season 4 ended with a bombshell as Amirah Vann who plays Parker on the series, was introduced towards the end.
Speaking to Deadline about the renewal of the series, Ava Duvernay shared how excited she was for season 5. “I’m thrilled to further explore the beauty, pain and triumph of this African-American family, with hopes that their story will continue to resonate with audiences who see themselves in the Bordelons.”
Anthony Sparks, who’s been Queen Sugar’s showrunner for consecutive seasons, is said to continue in his role.
“It’s a real honour to create this work with warner Horizon and OWN as their support is rock-solid and wonderful,” Duvernay added.
Although it’s still too early to say when the series will hit Mzansi shores, we’ll do the right thing and keep you posted.
