On this season, the Johnsons deal with cultural appropriation and a crisis of identity. The name calling at school puts one of the children, Johan, in a very confusing state that sees him trying by all means to not be who he really is.
The parents get another wakeup call that they didn’t exactly grow up in the world that they’re raising their children in and might need to change things up.
Speaking on ABC’s YouTube channel, Tika Sumpter who plays the role of “Alicia Johnson” spoke about what more we can expect this season and she explains that they go through a phase as parents that seems like they have no footing and have to live in a new society. Mark-Paul Gosselaar who is the father “Paul Johnson” continues to say that it’s expected and they pretty much still stand out a lot!
Here's shocker, Paul actually has a J.O.B as a teacher much to everyone’s surprise. He comes out of his shell and finally goes out to the world to live and lead by example.
“The heart of it all is still the same, it’s really through the lense of this 15 year-old girl” says Gary Cole who portrays their grandfather and we’re excited to watch as Bow and her family go through the challenges and overcome them all.
