In 2019, popular series Insecure did not return for it's highly anticipated fourth season. And after enduring a long two years awaiting the return of Issa's chronicles on the show, viewers are delighted to see how she will be levelling up on the looming premiere, which will happen on 1Magic on Monday, April 13th at 21:30! 

As part of the promo tour to amplify the show's return, Issa Rae is gracing the magazine covers and doing several interviews.

One such stop is Vogue Teen, in which Rae chats about the importance of retreating from the frenzy to find one's creative voice. She also talks about her blossoming movie career, helping out during the spread of the corona virus pandemic, and just generally all the important stuff you can expect from one of the most respected writers of this generation. 

Issa couldn't be prouder of the upcoming season, which has already thrilled fans after tossing out the essential promo. 

"I love this season so much", she told the magazine. "Season three we always knew was the building season. In the writer’s room, we were always like, ‘Ooh, season four going to be lit! This season is just about asking the question: Are people in your life for a reason or a season?"

These questions are important for the coming season. The finale for the previous season was a set up whose's play out everyone wants to see. After turning 30, Issa found herself having to reflect on why she's been stuck in a weird and viscious circle. She'd been sitting on a killer idea to start her own community centred events within the creative industry, but had done nothing about. She'd left her job as a teacher to seek, as a millenial, an endevours best aligned with her purpose and passion.

But wound up with a bunch of questionable decisions, a big fight with Molly, a (possibly) definite end to her interesting relationship with Nathan, her never ending back and forth with Lawrence, and lots more that in the end, led her back to her apartment in solutude. The last scene had her clean up the apartment, and hopefully, her act?

Issa is confident that season four will be lit! It's also why she needed to step back from writing for the show and be away from the cutting floor. 

"I want to make sure that the show is also good. We needed a pause. Coming back, we just felt so fresh and excited to be there, and it showed. It felt like fun again", she shared.
