Issa Rae

Issa embodies the rare trope of black awkwardness that she first introduced to audiences on her self-produced Youtube series back in the day. On Insecure, the writer and thespian embraces her genuinely awkward self as she chronicles the bizarre adventures of her love life, navigating life as a woman of colour in modern America and, amongst other things, finding her feet with online dating. She never found her feet over there, but she does keep everyone in stitches. Season two was all about her life beyond her long-term ex-boyfriend Lawrence, who also struggled almost just as much to find with his feet while also flying solo. Enough talk about feet.
