Viola Davis stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live recently to talk about the latest season of How to Get Away with Murder. Considering that Davis has a number of awards in the bag, including two Tony Awards, an Oscar and an Emmy Award for her show, Kimmel wanted to find out if she still auditions for her roles.
“No I don’t, and that’s a good thing,” Davis said pleasantly.
Davis went on and recalled the last time she auditioned for a role which was a play.
“I remember I had an audition once – I think it was for Henry IV, and I said, ‘I’m gonna get this role. I’m just going to be fantastic,” she said. “So I had a big crying scene, and I kissed the casting director with my snotty nose in the middle of the audition. And when I say I kissed him, I mean I kissed him. With that nose dripping. And it was so enjoyable that I kissed him again and it made no sense in the scene.”
Davis did not get the part.
Nonetheless, she’s wowed audiences, both on and off the stage with her numerous performances.
Catch her as Annalise Keating on ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder, every Monday at 20:30, exclusive to 1 Magic.
