Last night, ABC’s Black-ish returned for season 5 and there’s a lot to be excited about. For one, Dre & Bow’s relationship is back to normal after that devastating divorce arc from season 4.

Second, last season we were a bit worried about Junior’s return to season 5following his high school graduation. Would he return to Black-ish? Yep! In the season opener, Junior has chosen to take a gap year, meaning that he’s not going anywhere – at least for now.

Even Zoey appeared on the season’s premiere, which we’re sure many were happy to see.

But what was most interesting to see from the first episode of season 5 of Black-ish is that twins; Diane and Jack took the big step to have separate rooms. They’re a step away from puberty and as any teenager would have it, it’s time for some privacy.

Perhaps, a bit of a bittersweet moment for the twins, but perhaps it means they’re about to grow into their own. They’re both headed for middle school this year and we all know the pressures that it brings. Both siblings have a reputation to maintain in the seventh grade.

It’s a chance for both of them to put their best foot forward. We can’t wait to see how things pan out.
