Hollywood Divas, now on Season 2 on 1 Magic, explores the highs and lows of the road to success. Golden Brookes, Paula Jai Parker, Lisa Wu, Countess Vaughn, and Malika Haqq showcase their lives as black actresses in Tinseltown.
Many people may not know that Malika who’s well-known for her appearance on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, is also an actress. “I do think there are people who don’t know that my background is acting,” she told The Huffington Post. “I’m definitely opening up to changes in my life and this show gives me the opportunity to learn from these other women as well.”
Golden Brookes is no stranger to the small screen. Popular for her role as Maya in Girlfriends appreciates that Hollywood Divas gives viewers the chance to see something different.
“It’s not easy being an African-American actress in Hollywood,” she said to the Huffington Post. The actress reveals that there are a number of challenges that black women have faced in an evolving climate.
“There is a lot of politics within the business and things that people usually don’t get to see.”
