In a special three‑day television event, Mzansi Magic unlocks the original Director’s Cut of Inimba season 1 – featuring extended scenes and unseen story layers from Monday 16 February 2026.
As Inimba season 1 comes to an emotional close on Friday, 13 February, Mzansi Magic is treating fans to a special three‑day programming event that revisits the powerful beginnings of the story – in the lead‑up to Season 2 in March.
From Monday, 16 February to Wednesday, 18 February, viewers will be transported back to 2005 through a curated selection of three Director’s Cut episodes from season 1. These exclusive episodes feature extended scenes, deeper emotional context, and the original creative intent behind some of the telenovela’s most pivotal moments.
“These are the original versions as they were first created,” explains Inimba Executive Producer and Writer Siphosethu Tshapu. “They take viewers back to the true origins of the story and the emotional turning points that set everything in motion. From Zoleka’s life‑changing opportunity to go to America, to Hlathi standing in her way, and her struggle to adjust abroad, these moments shaped her fight for her daughter and the complicated love triangle that eventually led to Thumeka and Hlathi’s marriage.”
Tshapu adds: “We wanted to take viewers down memory lane, while also revealing layers, character journeys and moments that were never fully seen on screen the first time around.”
Episode 1 “Crossroads”
A dream job in America puts new wife and mother Zoleka on a collision course with her husband when Hlathi demands she choose family over career. As pressure mounts from all sides, Zoleka makes a decision that could cost her everything.
Episode 2 “Abandoned”
A family intervention turns into a brutal showdown when Zoleka refuses to give up her dreams. With her marriage and family hanging in the balance, she must decide whether to stay and submit, or leave and lose them all.
Episode 3 “Crossing Boundaries”
While Zoleka struggles alone in America, Hlathi battles heartbreak at home. But as loneliness deepens and lines blur, a dangerous connection forms that could shatter what’s left of their marriage forever.
Following the three Director’s Cut episodes, viewers can look forward to two episodes of Inside the Magic – a roundtable conversation hosted by 947 Breakfast Show host Anele Mgudlwa, an avid fan of the show. Cast reflects on the making of season 1, the choices behind major emotional beats and what audiences can look forward to in season 2.
