After two weeks of delivering sizzling performances that showed off their vocal flair, stage presence, and star potential, the Idols SA Top 12 waited patiently to hear their fate at Mosaiek Teatro. Though they’d come this far because of their undeniable talent, the voting public now had the final say. And by the end of an evening filled with sighs of relief, awe inspiring performances and a few steely critiques from the judges, Neve and Sipho found that their journey had now come to an end.

Fans and the families of the pair were shattered by the news and on the socials, viewers did not hesitate express their heartbreak.

Morara had gone all out to vote for Sipho, but had these kind words to say over his departure.

Nyikos knows that this is just the beginning, and encouraged Sipho to never give up in his path.

Neve’s elimination was a big disappointment for Justin.

Slondy shared a similar sentiment.

The double elimination also means that we are now down to the last ever Top 10 in the competition. Seeing that we are in the farewell season of the iconic show, every week will henceforth bring us closer to the crowning of the last-ever South African Idol. For this reason, Somizi reminded the Top 10 contestants that the stakes are high. From here onwards, they will each be critiqued with an increased sense of authority. In other words, the dreamers are expected to bring their A-game.

In the coming weeks, Envic, Faith, Lungelo, Lungile, Niikiey, Nkosi, Princess, Sena, Thabo, and Thando will be turning up the heat to show the judges Somizi, Thembi Seete and JR, that they have what it takes to wear the last crown. They will also be looking to win over the hearts of the voting public, who will have the final say who stays, and who goes home..
