A popular winner who’s stayed popular, Paxton, at 17, was the youngest ever female winner of Idols. Even before winning, she was whisked into the studio, emerging when she won with single ‘Demonstrate’. Later she collaborated with the winner of the second season of The Voice SA, Craig Lucas, on a hit titled ‘Smother’. Her debut album, ‘This Is Me’ arrived in 2018, with the songs ‘Angifuni’, ‘Where Are You Now’ and ‘Kiss The Haze’, a collaboration with R&B/soul artist, Tresor, being released as singles. In November 2019, she released a non-album single, ‘No Distractions’ with house deejay/producer Dr Moruti. She’s performed live in Russia and Los Angeles, was one of the opening acts for Karyn White’s Divas 2018 concert tour, and she opened for Tamia. In April of 2019, she scored a SAMA nomination for Best Pop Album and Newcomer of the Year. After featuring on her successor Yanga's debut album ‘Promised Land’ on the song ‘Catch Me’, she set her eye on philanthropy. With the support of the Western Cape Department of Education, Paxton, alongside MEC Debbie Schäfer and radio host Carl Wastie launched the "Raise your voice, not your phone" anti-bullying campaign in 2018. She also performed at the CHOC Benefit Concert, which is aimed at raising awareness for children diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders, and alongside Jarrad Ricketts she partnered up with Peninsula School Feeding Associations in August 2019, to raise awareness about hunger among children. The campaign required people to make donations to help feed some of the local children.
