After losing out to Karabo Mogane in the season 11 finale, Mmatema Moremi went from strength to strength. She had actually had some success before the competition, as part of the Tshwane Gospel Choir, with their song composed for the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaign (for the release of kidnapped girls in Nigeria by Boko Harem) landing her an interview on SABC2. But following the show, she consolidated her company, Mmatema Moremi Media Productions, and signed a deal with Universal Music to record gospel music. Before that though, she featured on DJ Tira and DJ Sox’s ‘Durban’s Finest’ project, and DJ Cleo produced her debut single ‘Because Of You’. She also filled up the State Theatre in Pretoria with Mmatema Moremi’s One Woman Show in 2016. Highly anticipated, her debut album was titled ‘Love. Praise. Worship.’ and it landed to acclaim in 2017. She now has her own gospel music show on SABC1, her own talk show on TBN, and she is the voice behind the SABC1 and SABC3's title tracks. Additionally, she’s performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and alongside numerous local and international musicians. In 2019, she got married and had a baby, but we expect to see (and hear) more from her soon!
