Last week, our Judges revealed that our talent would be performing in Groups but instead of complementing one another and harmonisng they'd need to battle and outclass their opponents. Seems pretty intense but their breakdown of the reasons makes perfect sense.
One of the consequences of this (something Somizi gleefully pointed out) is that a fierce battle ensued as everyone tried to either get the best part of the song or tailor the track to fit their range. Throw in all the other pressures and a hectic schedule and it's easy to see why people were on edge. Here are some of standout moments that resulted from this!
TUMI SAYS A NAUGHTY WORD ON NATIONAL TV! 🙊🙊🙊
Only the very keen eyed might have caught this and in all honesty, we think the good sis is forgiven for letting this slip because the weight of finding out your Idols journey is over in an instant is pretty massive.
GINA GOES BLANK DURING HER PERFORMANCE
When you consider the fact that Gina is not only a professional musician but also made it all the way to Solos last year, it's even more shocking that she lost her key and couldn't remember her words despite the chorus of voices singing along. So, so heartbreaking.
LENTHEA IS SO OVER IT...
When Sandy Bota voiced her displeasure with this year's Group Phase twist an intense discussion between her and Dinky ensued as they tried to determine the most fair way to split up the important sections of Rihanna's 'Umbrella' so no one was left singing, and we quote, "Ella, ella eh eh" 😂😂😂...
That said, one person was decidely absent from this convo. We wonder why....
NOSINDISO GETS ANNOYED WITH VIRGINIA
Like everyone else, Nosindiso, Mmangaliso & Viggy agreed on a key in rehearsal and started preparations for their group performance. However, Viggy soon started struggling to pitch her bridge correctly and asked that they change the key with her sister Virginia stepping in and backing her up. Nosindiso was clearly not about to risk her own audition with a last-minute change so she stood her ground leading to this hilarious moment!
VIRGINIA CLAPS BACK!
Virginia didn't take that refusal to change the key lying down. When we inqured about whether Viggy was indeed struggling with her pitching as alleged, she was adamant that her sister was sounding fantastic and ready to slay on the stage. Was there any doubt that she's a ride or die?
WHO WOKE MELANIN UP?
When Melanin got woken up from some much needed rest and discovered the reason why she was livid. Apparently it was so someone could use the seat for her friend but the gag is, there were plenty of empty seats about the place. Hmmm, do you suspect foul play?
