Farewell slay queen!

News10 November 2017
Phindy was easily one of the most animated contestants this season and we're sure that energy and zest is going to take her places.

From the moment Phindy rolled up at the Durban Auditions, it was clear that we were dealing with a true entertainer. Her stage and musicial experience shined through not only in the way she spoke about her ambitions but also her short, powerful and polished audition. 30 seconds was all she needed to score four yeses! This fact becomes even more impressive when one considers she was taking on Jessie J's 'Mama Knows Best' which is a beast of a song!

That experience continued to shine through as Theatre Week rolled around with Phindy being one of the few contestants who shouldered the pressure with great composure. Nowhere was this more evident than when she joined forces with Gugu Zulu and Basetsana to deliver one of the most memorable performances of the season, a stunning cover of 'Beneath Your Beautiful'. Ask any hardcore Idols fan and they can probably still recount the amazing, three-part harmony they created for the hook.

She followed up that WIN by completely reimagining Rihanna's, 'Man Down' and performing it as an acoustic, pop ballad. The risk certainly paid off because the performance was met by defeaning applause. By the time the Judges had also chimed in and showered her with complements, Phindy was an emotional wreck.

With Live Shows came the opportunity for Phindy to finally let loose and release her inner showgirl. That's precisely what she elected to do with noteable covers of Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston and plenty other divas of note!

One of her most memorable performances however, remains her homage to Michael Jackson with 'The Way You Make Me Feel' . From hair flips and struts to laying on the floor, Phindy made sure she WORKED that stage, hitting every high note and making us feel like showstopper had come early!

And while we loved watching Phindy on stage week after week she was just as fun and animated off it. We've lost track of how many gags she posted on the interwebs but we had to nab a few of them for old time's sake.

Also, her "best fraaandship" with Christo is the cutest thing ever and the snaps they keep sharing have us all the way in our feels! * insert crying emojis! *

It's no wonder therefore that we already miss seeing Phindy on the Idol's stage. That said, we're so excited to see what she will treat us to as she forges forward, taking her career to new heights. As our Idols crowd would put it, "Phindy unale THAT THING" (has "that thing") and we're sure she'll be a main-stay in the music industry.

PS: If you'd like to book Phindy, here are all the details you need.
