The ruler of Gqeberha
When we first met Luzuko Mxenge he was the man you wanted to be, with three gorgeous wives, one big empire, and his successor as a right-hand man. From afar, it seemed he was a man rich with power and influence, but most importantly family. This perception would only increase when he met the gorgeous Anathi and would soon have a sweet and beautiful fourth wife. The beautiful couple got married in opulence and class and from the outside looking in, it seems happily ever would be how the story would end.
Not all that glitters is gold
But a closer look at the wives had Mzansi realising that not all that glitters is gold. For instance, we realised his best friend Ta Msi, and his wife, Zimkhita were plotting his death. Then his heir did the unimaginable and got his fourth wife pregnant. The competition within his own family to succeed him pitted his children against one another. We also realised that Luzuko was a man with zero scruples, he constantly broke the law and was swimming in corruption in the hunt to always attain more than he had. Soon, his own influence deteriorated.
Consequences for his actions
In a dangerous turn of events, his own anger caused him to plot and kill Thulani and his wife, Anathi for the betrayal. Things started to spiral for our fave, the guilt would consume him and his life never knew any peace. With Thulani gone, the competition for a seat at the table got worse. He lost the trust he had for his family and things at the Mxenge household got tense. Meanwhile, Thulani and Anathi survived the attempted murder and were on the run. However, they would come back to Gqeberha and confront him about his evil ways. Bulelwa could forgive it all, just not her husband attempting to kill her only son. After a huge confrontation with Thulani, he landed in hospital and suffered from a stroke that put him in a coma.
The once larger-than-life man is now fighting for his life as his world collapses around him. He has no relationships with his wives and kids and his life is literally hanging by a thread. Will he overcome it?
