Last week, South Africa was introduced to the girls who make up the Top 16; now it’s the guys’ turn
Top 16 Boys

On Sunday, the guys will face the full glare of the country as they take to the live voting stage for the first time this season – and if their song choices are anything to go by, they mean business!

After watching the judges dishing out roses to a few and being not committing to others, they know they will be in for a tough time from judges: Randall Abrahams, Gareth Cliff, Somizi Mhlongo and Unathi Msengana. After all, this is showbiz and the judges are not just looking out for unique voices but great performers as well.

Bevin will have his work cut out for him when he takes on Chris Brown’s "Back to Sleep". And while no one expects an unoriginal carbon copy of the star, he knows he has to give his all when taking on R&B’s bad boy on that stage.

The waterworks will have to be turned off by the sensitive Keegan, at least long enough to allay his nerves so that he can perform Usher’s "Climax". Knowing how intricately layered the American star’s voice is, Keegan has to be on his A-game when the spotlight falls on him.

Local crooner Vusi Nova has the whole country singing along to his latest ballad, "Thandiwe", so the judges and the crowd are unlikely to be forgiving if Lusanda does not deliver on his own rendition of this local favourite. Pressure much? You bet!

Sanele will be taking on young sensation Charlie Puth’s teen romance anthem, "One Call Away". Will he deliver the emotional depth required for this love song? Only time will tell.

Another local favourite is dance duo Black Motion, whose song "Rainbow" will be performed by Idols SA returnee Tebogo. This is the first time Tebogo has made it this far, so it’s fingers crossed that the glare of the spotlight won’t see him choke when he finally realises his dream of being on the live show stage.

Terra will hopefully not have to dig too deep to find his inner neo soul self when he performs Maxwell’s "Bad Habits". The slight switching of gears should be right up his alley with this song choice.

Thami will take on Drake’s "Hotline Bling", will he leave Mzansi on a high when he gets on stage with his rendition of this hit? Let’s wait and see.

It wouldn’t be a South African -style Idols if we didn’t have at least one hot party anthem right? It will be up to Thamsanqa to deliver the fun "Akulalwa" by DJ Shimza feat. Dr Malinga. Let’s see how Thamsanqa will interpret this crazy hit.
