Thabo and Princess gear up for Idols SA's historic iLast battle.
Idols SA finale presser

In an electrifying penultimate show, Idols SA's season 19 draws closer to its historic conclusion. As the competition tightens, only two – Thabo and Princess – are left to battle for the ultimate title in next week's grand finale. With a whopping 50 million votes cast, anticipation and excitement are high.

The evening kicked off with a guest performance by the outstanding Makhadzi, performing her hit ‘Movie’, setting a powerful tone for the Top 3 as they showcased their debut singles, written and produced by Idols SA judge JR Bogopa from Feel Good Music

The show kicked off with Faith performing ‘Khulumela’. Thembi Seete described it as "not only a hit, but a classic," while JR praised Faith for stepping out of his comfort zone with impressive results.

Princess, the second performer, wowed the audience with her single ‘You Know I Do’. The song, resonating with themes of empowerment and self-discovery, earned high praise from the judges for its authenticity and Princess' vocal range.

Thabo, in his first round, showcased his versatility with ‘iSlungu’, a blend of Afro-pop, RnB, and Gospel. Thembi commended his bravery, while JR noted the song's catchy hook and Thabo's outstanding execution.

After emotionally charged performances and nerve-wracking moments, Faith bid an emotional farewell, leaving Thabo and Princess to step into the spotlight for the final showdown.

The second round saw the contestants revisit their most memorable performances of the season as chosen by the Idols SA family, followed by their own renditions of classic Mzansi hits in the third round. Both Princess and Thabo demonstrated their unique artistry and vocal strengths, further proving their worthiness for their top two positions.

For his second performance Thabo revisited Christina Perri's hauntingly beautiful ‘A Thousand Years’. Thembi encouraged him to seize every moment, highlighting his extraordinary talent. Somizi praised the performance as "impeccable," while JR commended Thabo's consistent hard work and selflessness in his artistry.

Princess, staying true to her growth trajectory, tackled Alicia Keys' ‘Fallin'’. Thembi recognised her right to be in the top two, commending her consistent evolution. Somizi and JR both agreed on her deserving place in the finale, with JR noting her courage to venture where other vocalists might not.

For their last performances of the evening, embracing the challenge of Mzansi classics, Princess delivered a spirited rendition of Yvonne Chaka Chaka's Umqombothi. JR Bogopa's pride was clear in his comment, "You deserve to be on that stage." He assured her that her hard work and undeniable talent made her a strong contender for the win.

Closing off the evening Thabo chose Miriam Makeba's ‘Lakutshon Ilanga’. His rendition was met with adulation, with Thembi asserting, "You are ready for the world." Somizi, moved by the performance, requested Thabo to lead the audience in Betusile’s ‘Ngena Noah’ in support of the Bokke.
