Well, ain’t this one of the sweetest songs ever!

Released amidst lockdown, ‘Isiginci’ has been an earworm ever since, and has now accumulated well over 1 million YouTube views.

Mduduzi Ncube made waves in 2019 when he camped outside DJ Tira’s Afrotainment office with his guitar, hoping to get noticed.

It worked, leading to the single ‘Malokazi’ with Berita. But ‘Isiginici’ – the lead single off his debut album ‘Istimela’ – is a far larger proposition for the young KZN minstrel. (Grab the album on your fave music service here – it’s a beautiful blend of pop, jazz, maskandi and Afro-soul.)

And it features a verse from a rapper ploughing his own unique path in the music biz, Big Zulu.

Real name Siyabonga Nene, he was influenced by maskandi and iscathamiya music, and then fell in love with hip-hop. In 2009, he started writing and performing his own unique music genre known as ‘Inkabi Rap’.

He has released multiple singles – including hook-ups with Zakwe, Kwesta, Sjava, Maraza, PRO and Emtee – and in 2013 he was crowned The King of Rap at the Rap Battle hosted by Back to The City, the biggest hip-hop event in Africa.

In 2019, he released his debut album ‘Ungqongqoshe Wongqongqoshe’, which includes collaborations with Ntsiki Mazwai, Fifi Cooper and AB Crazy, Kid X and Master D, and Cassper Nyovest.

He’s just landed a role on Uzalo and has an upcoming single due with Riky Rick!

We can’t wait to see and hear what this dynamite duo pull off on a jam-packed Idols SA show!
