Every girl’s wish is to find a knight in shining armour to sweep her off her feet and ride into the sunset. This is exactly what happened with Slindokuhle (29) and Sphamandla Khomo (29).
How they met:
The couple met in high school in 2006. Sphamandla explained that he’d sometimes walk her home after school. “It was difficult to get her to date me,” he said.
He remembered vividly the day when she agreed to date him. “It was on the 26th of September,” he said, much to Slindokuhle’s amusement.
Slindokuhle recalled of the day they had a school trip and unfortunately the bus they were traveling in overturned. “Everyone got out of the bus and ran away. I was trapped behind the seat and couldn’t get out. Then my husband came and pulled me out,” Slindokuhle said.
They both refer to this moment as one that defined their friendship, which later developed into a romantic relationship. “It was at that moment that I realized he cared for me,” she said.
Challenges:
Sphamandla recelled of how he faced stiff competition from other guys who wanted to marry Slindokuhle. “I was still in school at that time and was under a lot of pressure to get a job,” he said. Slindokuhle said she has to assure Sphamandla she wouldn’t agree to marry all those guys, and indeed she didn’t.
