If there’s one thing we know for certain about Idols SA, it’s that it changes lives and makes dreams come to life! In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion may sleep tonight, but Season 16’s Top 5 contestants have been up and very hard at work.

Every contestant that enters the audition room has hopes that they will become South Africa’s next Idol. It is that attitude and ambition that catapulted Zama, Mr Music, Brandon, ZanoThando and Ndoni to the top five positions they were in last season.

Their talents did not go unnoticed as they were each signed to a very prominent and reputable South African record label, Kalawa Jazmee Records.

Sweet songstress Zama was crowned Season 16’s Idol – and secured one AMAZING prize!

Although there can only be one winner and leader of the pack, we know that each contestant each got their prey: a chance at stardom.

Having given Zama a chance to revel in her success as the winner last year, the ‘Big 5’ have all been working on their own music and videos. Under COVID-19 restrictions, the five singers went to the North-West for their first ever #KalawaJazmeeBootcamp; a 14-day long trip packed with studio sessions and recreational activities in between.

Watch Zama’s music video for ‘Ndizobizwa’, a gentle Afro-pop number with traces of R&B.

Lend an ear to Mr Music’s ‘Ngikhethe Kahle’ which is a love-filled song quite reminiscent of a song by Idols SA season 9 winner, Musa (‘Mthande’).

And last but certainly not least, peak Brandon’s ‘Uhambe’! The track is an upbeat mainstream R&B song featuring South African rapper Duncan.

Those three aren’t the only ones cooking up heat in the kitchen; ZanoThando has recently released ‘Isela’, an Afro-pop tune that is currently stealing the hearts of many!...

... and Ndoni is working on her new record (as can be seen in Oskido’s tweet) which is already sounding like a Afro-house hit...

It's safe to say that the future of South African music is in good hands! Not forgetting that future Idols SA contestants have five incredible artist's journeys to keep them inspired to reach their dreams!
