Oh! We love a Zulu wedding!
Isibaya weddings Billboard 1600 x 800

Isibaya is known for its authentic portrayal of Zulu culture. Nowhere are Zulu tradition and customs displayed better than in the beautiful weddings on the show. The award-winning telenovela has been producing eight seasons of love stories and here are some of the most memorable weddings to come from them:

Sbu and Thandeka: The Zulu wedding journey

Who could forget the day when our favs finally tied the knot! The journey to Sbu and Thandeka’s traditional wedding day really began with her uMemulo, the traditional Zulu coming of age ceremony for women. By the time the wedding bells were ringing, Isibaya had taught viewers so much about a young girl’s journey to womanhood in the Zulu culture.

Sengwayo and MaMkhize: Beauty and authenticity

With the drama around Sengwayo and MaMkhize’s shared vision to rid the taxi industry of violence, one could forget that the pair also share a love for their Zulu culture. We lived for the beauty and authenticity of their traditional wedding.

Dabula and Ntwenhle: Young blood doing their thang!

There was nothing traditional about Dabula and Ntwenhle’s relationship. He was a criminal turned chief and she was a young girl who grew up on the streets who had recently found her father. They found love and gave us some of the best gangster love scenes we’d seen on Isibaya. They gave us tradition with a touch of the unconventional from the proposal to the lobola negotiations to their royal wedding.

Qondi and Bhekifa: The Royal Wedding

There may have been little love between them but Qondi and Bhekifa’s spectacular wedding was definitely one for the books. They gave regal, opulence and the best of Zulu tradition.

Zweli and Sihle: The young blood’s royal wedding.

If there is one wedding Isibaya  fans will never forget, it is Zweli and Sihle’s wedding. We know Sihle loves the finer things in life, so when she finally had her traditional wedding, it was the over-the-top gorgeous Zulu wedding we needed to see!
