Singabakho Ngubane (33) had no idea the lady who used his room while he was away from home would actually be the one he shares the rest of his life with.

You see, Nozipho’s (35) aunt and Singabakho’s father are long-time friends. When Nozipho moved from Durban to Ladysmith to start a new job, she had no place to stay and Singabakho’s father offered one of the outside rooms in the family home. This room happened to be Singabakho’s. Singabakho works in Durban, so Nozipho used the room while he was away.

Funny enough, the two had never met before until there was that one time the Ngubane’s had an event over the weekend. Nozipho had travelled back home in Durban and couldn’t attend the first day of the weekend. She drove back the following day and that was when she met Singabakho for the first time.

She was in a relationship at that time and he was seeing someone else too. They decided to end things with their then partners, and that’s how their relationship started. After a while Singabakho decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and sent his uncles to her family.

Challenges:

The couple recently suffered a tragic incident and it took quite some time for them to recover. Nozipho added their families disapproved of their relationship at first because they thought of the two of them as siblings. but they came around eventually.

How he proposed:

Nozipho laughed, as she told us of how Singabakho didn’t quite propose, but sent his uncles to her family for lobola negotiations. The bride price was paid thereafter.
