After captivating viewers with authentic storylines and beloved characters, the M-Net Local Entertainment Channels has announced Mzansi Magic’s The Queen and 1Magic’s Lingashoni final seasons are ending in 2023. The channel strategies for 1Magic (DStv channel 103) and Mzansi Magic (DStv channel161) have been revised to keep abreast with changing audience preferences and the evolving competitor landscape.

After six successful seasons, The Queen will premiere its finale 7th season in July 2022 and conclude on 13 January 2023. The final season of 1Magic’s Lingashoni will premiere from 21 March 2022 until 16 March 2023.

The Queen has been Mzansi Magic’s weekday 9pm offering since August 2016 and has celebrated unprecedented milestones such as 1 000-episodes in August 2020 and a historic crossover episode with 1Magic telenovela The River – a first for M-Net local productions. After six dynamic, entertaining seasons and milestones, The Queen is reaching a natural conclusion of its storyline.

Premiering in March 2021, Lingashoni is the second telenovela for 1Magic. The family-centred drama has captured viewers with shocking plot twists and much-loved ensemble cast of established actors alongside new talent, allowing M-Net to increase its local content offering for 1Magic audiences.

“As the M-Net Local Entertainment channels, we would like to applaud the producers, cast and crew of The Queen and Lingashoni for their dedication to delivering riveting storylines and award-winning content in highly contested primetime slots. We look forward to the thrills of the next 12 months as both productions draw towards their respective finales,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.
