We entered the Top 4 with more breath-taking performances and an unexpected goodbye.

Mosaïek Teatro came to a standstill as supporters came out in numbers to see if their favourites would make it to the next round. The show was also hyped because of PJ Morton’s appearance and it lived up to it.

Not only did Morton come armed with his pearls of wisdom for the contestants while mentoring them, but he also gave us the pleasure of being the first ones to watch him perform his new song ‘So Lonely’ featuring Maglera Doe Boy that had the audience on their feet.

It was a tight one seeing that the Top 5 had put in so much work to make it a step further but it had to come down to four. In this round it was time for Thabo, Faith, Princess and Nkosi to shine. They all had the opportunity to give us a double dose of magic with two songs each and they understood the assignment.

They gave us neo-soul, some R&B, throwbacks that made one want to fall in love and took it all the way to groovy jams.

Unfortunately as with every race, some people will be left behind and Niikiey was the next contestant to go home. Her journey may be over on Idols SA but her moments on the show were high key amazing.

She had us at “close enough to start a war” when she took the stage at the most intense phase of the competition with Adele’s ‘Turning Tables’ and this solidified her determination to fight.

Throughout the ups and downs that come with making it to the next week, she managed to bring the energy every chance she got. Her ability to mesmerise and keep the audience on their feet, while delivering fire vocals, was always applauded.

One thing is for sure though, she can leave the show knowing that she gave it her all and turned that stage into her musical playground. Her beautiful rendition of Mondli Ngcobo’s ‘Nkanyezi’ as one of her last performances was simply written in the stars.
