Missing Miss Monique Erens – Idols SA

News
08 October 2021
It feels like it was just yesterday that Monique Erens was part of the Idols SA finalists pack! This is in tribute to her and the talent she shared with us on the show!

On the 26th of September, Idols SA performances were centered around social media challenges and Monique was set to perform ‘Weak’ by SWV and it was definitely a performance worth looking forward to seeing as her performance of the song during Theatre Week group performances had been so solid.

One thing about Monique Erens is that her vocals have been solid from the word go! From her audition where she, between you and us, only got three yeses because Mr A wanted to keep things interesting! She definitely deserved four yeses but even more than that, the birthday balloons she received!

Being the overachiever she is, her wins haven’t stopped there! If you scroll down our videos and highlights page, you’ll find that Monique’s Theatre Week performance of Rowlene’s ‘Hypnotise’ is number 5 of 10 in the ‘Popular on Idols SA’ strip! Miss Erens is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

Her vocal abilities and stage presence are immensely hypnotic and her smile makes her so easy to love. Her last performance on Idols SA was with the our honorary Idols SA royalty, Prince Kaybee, where she partnered with him to perform his hit ‘Charlotte’! She left it all on the stage; showing off her vocal range, her linguistic range and completely transforming from the young lady, whose birthday we’d celebrated several months ago, into a woman whose presence demands to be respected! Charlotte was found shaking in her boots and Monique strutted in hers commanding the stage!

Mzansi felt as though her departure from Idols SA was untimely considering she still had so much to give! One such unhappy camper was South African RnB sensation, Donald, who took to Twitter to express his unhappiness about Monique no longer being in the running for the title.

Despite the show’s unfavorable results, the ever so bubbly and dimpled smile, Monique Erens, keenly shared some parting words with us. We truly look forward to seeing what she gets up to next and hope that Mzansi’s music industry greats do the right things with this one right here! This is not goodbye, just see you later Monique!
