The people asked...

And we have delivered! Yes: Makhadzi is performing on Idols SA this Sunday! So, to the 20,000 or so people who signed this petition, we got you!

While it may seem like Makhadzi is everywhere at the moment, she’s been building her music game since 2012, and already has six albums to her name.

Popularly known as ‘The Queen of Limpopo’ (sorry Sho Madjozi!), she took the world by storm in 2019 with the song ‘Matorokisi’, and when she performed it earlier this year at the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards, she nearly set The Dome on fire!

More recently, she’s been in the news over unpaid royalties and, ahem, the fact that she admitted that she’d given her virginity to Master KG!

But what we really should be talking about is her latest album, ‘Kokovha’ The 21-track full-length features an array of guests, including Sho Madjozi, Mampintsha, Mr Brown, Jah Prayzah and Master KG.

On Sunday she’ll perform the latest single from that album, ‘Murahu’, which is a song with a message. She recently revealed on her Instagram that the song “is dedicated to my life story .... I am victim of rape … I am trying to tell everyone to not judge me because of my past because. My past didn’t not break me but made me. Me being a victim of rape doesn’t mean i am no longer wife material.”

Our other guest is also having a phenomenal year. Best known for her shock of blue hair, Moonchild’s self-created genre is called “future ghetto funk” and it’s stood her in good stead – locally she’s collaborated with DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Focalistic and The Muffinz.

But 2020 has been a breakthrough year for her internationally. As this ‘One To Watch’ article on the Guardian outlines, she went from a gqom prodigy to working with Beyoncé on the ‘Black Is King’ film and soundtrack!

She also worked with British ‘cartoon’ band Gorillaz, and on Sunday she’ll be performing ‘Bashiri’ off her bold new EP, ‘Nüdes’.

Season 16 of Idols SA broadcasts on Sundays at 17:00 on Mzansi Magic Channel 161. Get exclusive updates and a behind the scenes look at all the action right here on our site. Don't forget to join the conversation by following us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram using the hashtag #IdolsSA.
