We all wish we had a rich aunt who left us a sizable family inheritance so we can get the financial boost we need to finally make ends meet or simply level up and live comfortably for the rest of our lives.

Well, Unefa, Mzansi Magic’s newest docu-reality series follows the lives of South Africans who are surprised by the fact that they have an unclaimed inheritance.

“Unefa will take viewers on an emotional, entertaining, hopeful, reflective and heart-warming journey where unsuspecting beneficiaries are surprised with an unclaimed inheritance from their deceased loved ones,” says Nomsa Philiso, the Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

The show’s premise is created on the fact that every year many South Africans pass on, leaving their loved ones with the gift of an inheritance, but every year many South Africans miss their blessings and never receive that money.

This may be due to incorrect personal details (where their information was either wrongly logged or not updated) or the beneficiary is a minor at the time of death, resulting in payment where the money is held by the Guardian’s Fund. Others don’t receive their funds for sneakier reasons such as lack of transparency between family members.

The show will trace the relationship between the family and the deceased, while sharing the beneficiary’s healing process. Each episode, of course, culminates with their reaction during the moment of truth when the big surprise is revealed: that they will be receiving an inheritance!

Hosted by Motlatsi Mafatshe, Unefa is not only set to entertain and educate, but also change lives.

The show starts on Wednesday 7 July 2021 on Mzansi Magic channel 161 at 20h00. Join the conversation on #Unefa.
