New guys are often viewed as weak. They are vulnerable for not knowing. Newbies are subject to initiation and must accept being the butt of everyone’s inside joke. While new guys have to go through the most, Ngwenya has flipped the script.

Judas appears to be a man of obscene wealth, obscene views and an obscene way of doing business. He may be the new guy, but Samson is fast learning that things are going to have to go according to Ngwenyas plans, however dangerous.

Samson’s goal in life seems simple; to conquer Sengwayo. To topple Zungu as the most influential man in Bhubesini. And he is only too happy to sabotage Mpiyakhe along the way.

Going into business with Judas behind the UTA’s back was clearly in order to fool Sengwayo and everyone else and emerge a superpower. But was it that simple with Judas involved? A follower of the biblical figure, Judas wasn’t averse to the culture of betrayal which made loyalty that much more important but reduced trust to a myth.

Working in good faith in bad business with someone like Samson was forgone. So why was he working with the guy? Was it simply a case of a common enemy in Sengwayo or was Samson going to be an unfortunate byproduct of greed?
