Hope bows out – Idols SA

News

Sunday marked the first live show to come with eliminations, and Hope was the first to be told that she did not receive enough votes to continue in the Idols SA competition.
Hope brandishing her Golden Ticket

We met Hope like we met all the other contestants – during the audition phase. Obviously, she did pretty well, considering that she walked away with a Golden Ticket.

Having secured a spot in Theatre Week, she tackled the challenges with aplomb, although her duet partner, Andile, didn’t impress the judges enough to get their votes.

After that, it was time for her to perform another solo piece, Chris Brown’s ‘Undecided’. Once again, her talent was on full display, and she went on to be named as one of the Top 12 of the season.

At that point, she had everything to sing for. The season moved into the Live Show phase, and Hope was partnered with Langa Mavuso on his track ‘Pretend’.

As was par for the course during the Group Live Shows, she immediately had to follow that up with another solo effort, ‘Hrs & Hrs’.

That marked the last performance she would deliver for season 18 of Idols SA. For whatever reason, South African audiences didn’t deliver the votes she needed to stay in the competition. We’re sure she’s not out, though – we should expect to see her on South African stages in the coming years.
