Valarie Khemese (59 years) does not like surprises, not one bit! But her children Ofentse, Kwanele and Nandi gave her and their father, Sandile (63 years) a one-of-a-kind surprise for their 39th wedding anniversary.
Although the Khemese children couldn’t recall when their parents met, they know for sure it was their love for music that brought them together.
“Our parents met at music school. Dad played the violin, while mom played the cello. Music was out father’s dream so at some point he had to relocate to the UK to pursue his studies in music, but later returned to South Africa,” explained Ofentse.
Nandi said what inspires her about their parents relationship is their friendship. She added that their parents have always known that they wanted to start a family and be together for the rest of their lives.
“They got married in 1996 and they’ve been married for 39 years now,” chipped in their brother Kwanele.
The Khemese siblings recall their father being away from home for periods of up to six months because he was touring the world with his band. But he made it up to them when he came home afterwards.
They further add that this Gift of Love would be the perfect gift for their parents’ 39th wedding anniversary, especially since they were very young when their parents got married.
