On Sunday 20 March 2022, VIP Invite Season 2 viewers were blessed by Gospel musician, Ayanda Ntanzi’s performances.

During the live Gospel music show, Ntanzi also shared his testimony of being a student and juggling his music career.

He said: “I’ve been through exclusion in varsity, but that was because I had chosen to follow the [Gospel music career] dream. I got a call when I was about to write my final exams. It was an invitation to perform the biggest tribute in the land of Gospel music [for the late S’fiso Ncwane].”

After deciding to perform the gig, he then decided to do his exams the following year.

In an interview with TimesLIVE, Ntanzi revealed that he is the first graduate at home, as well as the first person to be as prominent as he is. “I never thought I'd be able to be such a blessing in the way God has used me.”

Ntanzi, who is best known for his albums Udumo and Priestly Worship, performed songs like Basuka and Ngena on VIP Invite Season 2.

In a behind-the-scenes interview with Mzansi Magic, Ntanzi shared what overcoming challenges taught him.

He said he is excited about any new challenge that comes his way because having challenges made him realise how strong and tough he is. “I face [the challenge] head on; I grab the bull by its horns, and I conquer.”

Juggling law and his music career

Ntanzi says that studying law and pursuing his music career were made possible through grace, as well as the great support he received from his support system. “I had support from church. I had support from my family, and my record label really, really supported me.

“They made sure that everything we did was aligned with my school timetable schedule.”

He continued. “It really helped me to have them understand that at the end of the day I need to do my studies – I needed to complete my studies, and also at the same time pursue the career, excel and still show up for appointments.”

He added that his record label helped make sure that things ran smoothly.
