Day 48: The Housemates throw down – BBMzansi

News
12 March 2022
As always, the Saturday Night Party was a collection of bangers, thanks – this time – the the deck stylings of DJ Mr X and Thuli Phongolo.
Thato dancing.

While the Housemates certainly got into the spirit early, they wasted no time in getting to onto the dancefloor when Biggie told them it was time for the Saturday Night Party. Waiting to meet them was DJ Mr X with some up-tempo beats from across the African continent. Right off the bat, Terry could be seen right up close to the DJ box – her usual spot – and Mphowabadimo and Sis Tamara could be seen throwing it down like their lives depended on it. Venus was also not taking any prisoners – she owned the floor, and didn’t care if anybody else felt like laying a claim to it.

Gash1 and Themba could be seen taking it easy on the couch, keeping a close watch on the ladies doing their thing on the dancefloor. While Gash1 could eventually be tempted to dance – by Thato, not surprisingly – tonight was decidedly lowkey for Themba, who was taking it easy.

Throwing off positive vibes was Nale, who had a smile plastered to her face the whole time, looking for any excuse to dance with anybody, and nobody seemed to mind. It became clear that the party’s biggest fans were those who are up for Nomination during the next Live Eviction Show – which is not surprising, really. When you might be leaving tomorrow, make today count.

At 22:00, it was time for Thuli Phongolo to take over the DJing duties, and she made her presence known by shifting the music to a more laid back attitude, let easy grooves be the order of the day. You wouldn’t have been able to tell merely by looking at the Housemates, however: they didn’t slow down one bit. At one point, the trio of Venus, Mphowabadimo and Nale – again, all Nominated – could be see working the mirror (and hence the cameras) in tandem, looking a little bit like a squadron of spitfires. A very good-looking squadron, it must be said.

Also looking sharp was Thato, who broke out a little tight number for the occasion, while Libo decided to go with something that could only be called, “beachboy casual”. Tulz, for the most part, made himself at home behind the bar as the self-designated mixologist, making sure to keep the drinks flowing to the Housemates during the rare times they were able to pull themselves off the dancefloor.

All too soon, it was time to pack it in, and the Housemates returned to the House – with nothing but tomorrow's Live Eviction Show looking ahead of them. Tune in to see who goes home!
