From eye-catching ensembles to fancy footwork, Gauteng bloomed like the proverbial flower this season under the tutelage of immensely talented Afro-pop musician, Kelly Khumalo.

We watched our gorgeous choirmaster trudge through the dusty streets of the City of Gold in search of talent during the start of the competition - and we were right there with her when she pulled off incredible performance after incredible performance on the Clash stage once she had found her mojo.

After starting the race alongside powerful female choirmasters Busiswa representing Kwazulu-Natal and Bucie captaining the Eastern Cape, Kelly held on and eventually found herself crowned ‘The Last Woman Standing’. It’s not hard to see why.

Kelly was determined to become the first woman to win Clash of the Choirs and her work ethic and determination is evidence enough. Not content with just late morning and early evening rehearsals, Kelly packed her bags, left home and moved in with her choir, to be closer to the action. Now if that’s not dedication, we don’t know what is.

Even though Gauteng did not walk away with the Clash of the Choirs crown, they should be proud of themselves for making it this far. And to celebrate this amazing feat, our proud sponsor Metropolitan, is handing over R50 000 to Team Kelly, which they will give to a charity of their choice.
